Are You Really too Busy to Eat Healthy?

I’ve been hearing a lot lately that people are just too busy to make healthy food choices, and I get that there are a lot of ‘fast’ food options available in this busy world we live in. Is it really faster though by the time you leave the office and make your way to the food court?

There are so many great ways to keep your plates healthy fast so you can keep up with your busy life. Otherwise it’s a bit like going to the petrol station and filling your car up with watered down petrol, eventually your car won’t run anymore! Wouldn’t you rather fill it up with premium so that you don’t ever have to stop? Here are 3 things you can do RIGHT NOW that will help you get the nutrition you need:

  • Put aside half an hour at the beginning of the week to boil a dozen eggs, blitz up some hommus and cut up some tasty vegetables. That way you always have a healthy snack on hand (I usually eat mine with cheese because I’m a cheese addict!)
  • Don’t have time to make it to the farmer’s market? Buy online (and local) here – http://www.thelocalgrocer.com.au they even have set boxes full of seasonal local produce that gets delivered to your doorstep. Why not get a fruit box delivered to work? Or a Green Juicer box at home if that’s more your thing.
  • Make some bone broth already! This becomes the base for a really fast protein packed soup on the go. Just add your favourite herbs and vegies and it it nutritious and delicious. Especially on these cold wintery nights. Here is a link to the lovely Sarah Hopkin’s recipe http://health-wellbeing.com.au/healthy-lifestyle-guidelines-advice/amazing-elixir-of-health-and-youth-bone-broth/

I’d love to hear your thoughts, how do you pack more healthy goodness into your packed schedule?

Great suggestions Kerryn! I’ve been looking at ordering online from here too: http://www.organiccollective.com.au/ – have you used them before?

Hi Kat! I haven’t used them but Tony recommended them to me also. And I’ve been following them on FB – their produce looks delicious. Let me know how it goes 🙂

  • I have started light n easy for portion control and convenience. Also I have saved money and find that my colleagues are so supportive too. Also ordered a box of organic veggies and am eating some in the car on the way to work for break – yum!
    Loved your article too!

Hi Trudy, I often get hungry in the car too. Great idea to cut up some veggies and take them with you. Thank you for sharing!

  • Thank you for the post, when my family moved into our new home, one of the things I was determined to have, was my own vegetable and herb garden, I have to say, it is the best feeling, going to your garden, and picking some fresh rocket, kale, spinach, basil, for your sandwich, roll, salad ….. now that is seriously fast food. Great post.

  • When we eat healthy food we feel better. When we feel better we are less stressed. When we are less stressed we feel as though we have more time. So important to make the time for healthy eating as there are so many more benefits that come with that. The other thing is … healthy food is delicious! 🙂
